Christy and RS,

Wanted to let you both know that I've updated the plugin as follows:

instead of my include statements calling the depreciated file rss-functions.php, I am having it call the newer rss.php file for those rss parsing functions.

I am thinking that solves issues on both accounts - but please let me know if there's anything else I can do.

RS, I considered putting your changes into the stable version of the plugin but the rss.php file included with wordpress does maintain the magpie rss functionality. So, at this point I think I'll keep it as is.

Thanks to you both, I hope you enjoy the plugin.

christy,

I have never heard of that - and I'm running the plugin on wordpress 2.9.2.

as long as you've activated the netflix plugin you should be good to go...

Is there any other error text of any kind? or is that all we get?

just for testing's sake you could de-activate all other plugins temporarily and see if that changes anything. Let me know if that produces anything but at this point I don't have any other ideas besides that.

I am running Wordpress 2.9.2, uploaded plugin, went to activate it and received the following message: Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.

Is there any kind of plugin that might interfere with this one, or one maybe I do not have activated that I should? or any ideas at all...I tried installing this on earlier versions of Wordpress 2.9 or 8 and it gave me same error.

I promise all of you that Trials HD is a harder game to "complete" than beating any CoD on veteran difficulty. Vanberge should truly be proud of his accomplishment. While I do enjoy Trials quite a bit (it's very addictive, simplistic gameplay...kinda like Contra on 2 wheels with the pattern memorization and demanding of utmost concentration, where one failure means your death), I definitely don't like it enough to try and go through what my brother did.

But you really have to look at the word I chose to place within quotes..."complete." Simply "beating" Trials HD isn't really a possibility, because until you get gold medals on all the events, you cannot reach 100% for the individual groupings (tourneys, etc).

It's like trying to complete GTA4 with 100% of everything. Sure, you beat the story mode, but how much time and pain are you willing to sacrifice to get the 100%?

I can tell all of you right now that the hardest game I've ever tried to deal with in this type of situation was Contra: Shattered Soldier. The game mocks you and punishes you for continuing. Its requirements to allow the player to actually play all the levels and see all the endings are unfathomably difficult. And, unlike Trials, you can't really get far enough to see everything the game offers, so as to run through trial & error. If you make it to the final level/boss ONCE, then that's the first time you get to be there, so you'll likely die a lot. From there, you can't continue, because you won't get the full ending. So then, you have to play another faultless game to make it back to the final level/end boss just to try and memorize the pattern. Then, and only then, do you get some options of trial & error.

So I will say, yes, the Marathon Achievement is probably more difficult than CoD Veteran, but what happens when a player wants to beat CoD without dying? Is that more than simply "beating" the game? Vanberge literally defeated Trials. He more than 'beat' the game, he beat the game designers themselves.

In the end, it comes down to context and what counts as "completing" I guess...

I think 24 is one of the greatest shows on television. I got into it a third of the way through season 6 and found it amazing. One of my favorite things was how politically incorrect it was in that Jack did things like shoot a terrorist in one leg, then put the gun to the other. I thoroughly enjoyed the season and watched each prior season online. After watching a few episodes of a season it was very hard to step away. Now, season 7 had some good story elements and suspense, and I liked the idea of Chloe, Bill, and Tony acting as shadow protectors accomplishing far more than the FBI was. Also, I liked how Jack stood up to the congressman judging his actions that have saved millions. However, I think this recent move to realism has taken some from the show. The former bulldog Jack rarely crossed the line in season 7 and has yet to do anything of the sort in season 8. The casting hasn't helped (who let that dreadful Garafalo near the show?!). I've always liked Chloe, but I was never too fond of Renee, and the new CTU people this season seem kind of lame. Why not keep Milo or someone from season 6? Oh well, Jack should be able to keep the season entertaining (that knife out of his chest into the russian's neck was awesome!), but it just seems to have lost a certain spark.

I think Vanbergs could make an honest comparison - he has played both MW and Trials HD...

What say you vanbergs - If somebody said to you: "Would you rather beat Modern Warfare on Veteran; or get the Marathon achievement in Trials" - which would you consider to be a more realistic venture?

Ha. Vo may have you there. I cannot even imagine doing that, especially on the Xbox. I could not even beat all stages with the Xbox controller.
